(13.04.1936– 21-07-24)

With a very heavy heart, we inform you all that our revered teacher, friend, philosopher and guide Prof. Satya Priya Moulik left us for heavenly abode on this auspicious morning of Guru Purnima.

Prof. Moulik was not only an active Professor and researcher and guide at the Chemistry Department of Jadavpur University throughout his life, he was also instrumental in founding the Indian Society of Surface Science and Technology and has worked for and guided the society actively till his last day. He was a Fellow of the National Academy and has supervised numerous Ph.D. students spread around the globe. He published more than 400 papers, received more than 17000 citations. Despite all these, he was a very simple man to the core and lived a simple life throughout. His kindness and warmth touched the lives of many. With his demise the society lost a true father figure and a huge void in the academic arena of physical chemistry is created.

On behalf of the ISSST, we all pray for his peaceful rest in the heaven. May his heavenly brightness continue to show us the light of hope of carrying forward his legacy.

Our sincere condolences go to his family members. We like them to know that we are with them in their loss and pray to God to give them strength to go through this period. May his soul rest in peace.
